SynoExt add-on for Firefox 4, 5 and 6
The SynoExt add-on for Firefox is great for people who have a Synology DiskStation: downloading torrents on the NAS straight from the browser.
Too bad the extension isn’t being maintained, and is now incompatible with new Firefox versions (everything newer than 3.6 won’t work).
Turns out that there is a very easy fix, simply editing the ‘install.rdf’ and increasing a version number is enough to make it work in Firefox 4, 5 and 6.

is there ANY explanation WHY this add-on only works with the admin user? i usually set up an account for every purpose. so i created one for synoext. but it never worked. then i tried the admin account and it connected!? the funny thing is: if i change the access privileges exactly to the ones from the admin account (groups and file, so it is 100% equal to the admin account) it once again does NOT connect. then tried once again the admin account -> worked. why the hell? many thanks in advance. i do NOT want to use the admin account for such a thing … [/paranoia]

I’ve modded the v0.8-beta5 to be installed in Firefox 8, but I don’t know if it’s 100% working in the last FF release.
I uploaded to my personal website if someone wants to test it.
1) Click in the link below.
2) Save the ZIP file somewhere in your system.
3) Extract the content of the file.
4) Drag and drop the XPI file over any open Firefox window, which will invoke the Add-on installation window.

Best regards,
Yodog.
